Webmail

Webmail is a type of email that allows users to access their messages on any computer or device with an internet connection and a web browser. This cloud-based solution is hosted by the service provider and the mailboxes are stored on their server.
Popular webmail providers include Google's Gmail, Microsoft's Outlook.com and Yahoo! Mail. These services often come with additional features such as spam filtering, large storage capacity and advanced search capabilities.
Webmail became popular because it allows users to check their emails from any location, without the need to download any software or configure settings on their device. Most webmail interfaces also offer options for organizing mails, setting up automatic replies, and handling junk mail.
However, webmail also has some potential downsides. Firstly, because the email is stored on a third-party server, there may be privacy concerns. Secondly, if the webmail provider suffers a technical failure or is the target of a cyber attack, users could potentially lose access to their emails. Despite these risks, many people find the convenience of webmail outweighs the potential downsides.
