KhalifeSchumacherTristano - Afrodiziak (Reboot Remix) 18. DJ Pierre - What is House Muzik (Roland Leesker Love Mix) 19. P41 - My Difficult Child (Studiovacanze Mix) For a long time, Francesco Tristano has behaved, musically, like a wild child making fun of his parents supervision, and repeatedly ran away from home to visit forbidden locations. One only has to review last year´s agenda of concerts: in between solemn dates in important venues all over the planet where he interprets programs of baroque and contemporary music, centring around composers like Johann Sebastian Bach, Maurice Ravel, George Gershwin or Dietrich Buxtehude on the piano, are several commitments under the epigraph `Francesco Tristano live´. Those escapes have little to do with classical music; quite the opposite actually. They show that Francesco´s commitment to electronic sounds remains as alive as when he started to release his first “dance” records on Infiné, even though over the last years he consolidated his position as one of the most requested pianists with one of the most brilliant repertoires of his generation. When Francesco Tristano escapes to a club, the spirit which possesses him is the one of Techno, specifically the original Detroit sound. There, in the heat of the cabin, he switches from piano to synthesizer, from pedals to software and what flows out of the speakers is a kind of music, which can only fit in this hedonistic context and the celebration of the body: expansive, rhythmic, emotional, sprinkled with piano stabs and unstoppable grooves. The material he uses is typically self-composed and unreleased, secretly produced in seclusion, to nurture a musical discourse, which only makes sense if it´s carried out like some kind of jam session, with the continuity of a DJ set, without exactly being a classic DJ set. There are transitions, but there are no mixes; and if there are tracks by other artists, they appear as elements facilitating the creation of a live remix. And from this ac***ulated experience, the idea and the content of volume 16 of the Body Language series was born. Part of the Techno material Francesco Tristano was working on over the last few months has already appeared last December on the “Piano, Hats & Stabs” E.P., his first record for Get Physical. Some of those tracks are re-appearing now on “Body Language” in the form they were originally intended to be: as pieces, designed to fit into a much more ambitious and complex construction. With the exception of “The Harvest” – a Jazz classic, identifiable as Proto-Techno, that opened Joe Zawinul´s album Dialects (1986), which importance could be compared to Herbie Han***´s “Rockit”, Francesco Tristano´s entire journey expresses itself in form of original productions (“Ongaku”, “Jinguru”), written in collaboration with other musicians. Here we are listening for the first time to “Amnesie”, half-half with Luciano, or the new project KhalifeSchumacherTristano, which was born from the ashes of “Aufgang” and remixed by Reboot – or material that was given to him by partners of the label, friends and other artists from his surroundings, like P41, aka the sound engineer Edoardo Pietrogrande; or Danton Eeprom, ex-partner in the Infiné days; Cardopusher, neighbour in Barcelona; and also M.A.N.D.Y., representatives of his new home-label, Get Physical. On a traditional DJ album, the added value lies apart from the musical selection in the bravery of the mix. In the case of Body Language, the importance is not so much in the beat-matching, but much rather in the key-mixing. To round off the transitions of the tracks, Francesco Tristano has deployed all his musical wisdom, to add layers of synthesizers and piano attacks all over the place, to complete the rhythmic journey with a dense harmonic richness. His own tracks are born from piano grooves – you might even notice some chords borrowed from the "Suite In A Minor" by Jean-Philippe Rameau, one of the most important composers of the French baroque – and are always expanding in the depth of outer space. The result may sound familiar on first listening, but it becomes deeper when paying attention to the details and chord progressions. The architecture of the composition is actually quite surprising: Deep House and Detroit 2.0 with a sonic density, which is unknown in contemporary club music. The expression that best describes the musical philosophy of Francesco Tristano might be “Bach to the Future”. On Body Language there is no Bach, but the future is constructing itself minute by minute.

A Tape | Helena Hauff
helenahaufftape.bandcamp.com
A Tape by Helena Hauff, released 04 August 2017 1. c45p 2. hdowed 3. for i am *** 4. pps 5. tape7 6. Split Scission 7. ff297-3 8. btdr1123 9. l#+#l 10. $§"$43 11. 29acid3 12. yyh We are honored to present ‘A Tape’, a double LP of early work by Helena Hauff, a DJ and record producer based in Hamburg, Germany. At university she studied fine art, physics, and systematic music science. She previously was a resident at Hamburg's Golden Pudel Club, where she hosted a night called Birds and Other Instruments. As a selector she weaves energetically between electro, new wave, and EBM. Her music, often recorded live in one take, has a raw intensity to it. She debuted with an EP on Werkdiscs back in 2013 followed by records for Lux_Rec and Bunker sublabel Panzerkreuz as well as two collaborative EPs for PAN, produced under the name Black Sites with fellow Pudel resident f#x. ‘A Tape’ is a compilation of Helena’s earliest recordings from 2011 and 2014, originally released on limited cassette by Handmade Birds in 2015. Clocking in at over 50 minutes, this collection spans Hauff’s musical universe, from jacking acid-techno to ***ish zone-outs and scuzzy feedback interludes. It’s tempting to consider it Helena’s debut album, but she views these tracks as mostly forgotten sketches left on the cutting room floor. It a gripping collection of deep, sinister ***og synth sequences, industrial dissonance, and heavy percussion. Her equipment set up was a Roland Alpha Juno 2, Juno 60, TB-303, TR-707 and TR-808. Both of the discs end with Hauff stepping outside of the intentionally stiff, robotic rhythms, instead showing her skill at crafting less conventional electronic sounds.

SAT037- "Shaded Mind" | Heuristic Audio
heuristicaudio.bandcamp.com
SAT037- "Shaded Mind" by Heuristic Audio, released 30 September 2006 1. The Gentle Art of Making Enemies 2. Struggle 3. Engraved Anger 4. Frantic 5. Semi Structured Data 6. Fracture 7. Sine Language 8. Fear of the Future 9. A Chemical Deficiency 10. Shaded Mind 11. Fantasy at Dawn 12. Everything A total of twelve new tracks of clean break driven dub-otik madness backed with ghostly melodies floating in a infinite space. This is the post -modern noir of the Electro world creating a sonic space quite undefinable, subtle but unmistakably one that Heuristic Audio owns to himself. The simulacrum of the Electro breaks Blade Runner World. Professional Mastering by Frankford+Wayne NY City and quality pressing by Brooklyn Phono, NY, no expense spared, vinyl is limited David Froud has worked with a number of collaborators over the years, with releases going back to the early nineties. His musical influences are many, punk to classical, but many things outside of music also affect his productions. Heuristic audio was first conceived about seven or eight years ago whilst working on another project. The original idea behind this was for him to develop his own sound. To utilize new technology to achieve what he never could in the ***ogue past. To construct a music/soundtrack that was more personal to him and would reference the past and look to the future. The sound has been described as dark, minimal electro but really it’s about contrast. Dark with the light, rough beats against smooth textures. Sounds that will work together, sounds that won’t. This means a lot of trial and error, but also has lead to some of the best results coming from chaos. His first release on Satamile records was the “*** of a star” ep in 2004 which marked out firmly where the sound was heading. The follow up ep “layers (light and atmosphere)” a year later was clearly a more textural and minimal take on electro. Satamile have recently released the debut LP “shaded mind”, ranging from neo-soundtracks to futuristic electro breaks. This is at times richer, deeper and a fuller sounding than earlier work, but also starker and more minimal elsewhere. Since producing “shaded mind” Heuristic audio has concentrated on developing a live set to represent this work and test out his newest material as as featured on Dave Clarks BBC Radio show LIVE. Outburn Mag. Review of Heuristic Audio: Heuristic Audio Layers (Light+ Atmosphere) 12 inch "The Music: This four track EP is the second release from this DJ turned producer Exploring contemporary electro sounds with dark and dreamy effects, as well as crunchy, melodic bass breaks and atmospheric synths, Layers is an excellent soundtrack to groove to and get lost in. Standout Tracks: " Poetry of Sound," "Realistic Tradition, "Nocturne". IF YOU LIKE Si Begg, Amon Tobin, Christian Vogel, Plastikman Xlr8r Magazine Review: Call it Electro, call it Breaks, Call it simply Bass, Whatever , its ***ing *** good when its done well, and both "Nocturne" and "Artspeak" on this latest from NYC Powerhouse will *** the doors off with the right soundsystem.
