Padre Nuestro El grupo folclórico afrocubano de música y danza Rumba Morena, se funda el 20 de marzo de 1984 en el Barrio de Jesús María. Un barrio emblemático de la rumba en La Habana. Es uno de los únicos grupos de Rumba femenino en el mundo, y en el 2004, Diunis Valdés O'Farrill, asume el papel de directora de la agrupación que ahora cuenta con 8 integrantes, todas mujeres, percusionistas, bailarinas y cantantes. Por su peculiaridad sonora y su empeño de mantener en alto los valores tradicionales del género folklórico afrocubano llamado Rumba, la agrupación ha mantenido una constante parti***ción dentro de la presentación cultural en diferentes localidades de la isla. A lo largo de los años, esta agrupación que tiene ya mas de 30 años de existencia, ha realizado un trabajo de salvaguardia de la tradición oral africana en Cuba y ha asegurado la continuidad del género, experimentando a veces fusiones con otros ritmos como el Jazz o el Son sin salirse del marco folclórico. Este género de la percusión ha sido por excelencia representada por artistas masculinos quienes habían impuesto cierta hegemonía en este ámbito musical, y el papel de Rumba Morena en este sentido es aún más importante porque lucha por la igualdad de género. Además, de la transmisión del patrimonio cultural, y para trasmitir a las mujeres la fuerza y energía que las caracteriza y de esa manera contribuir a que en un futuro no lejano hayan muchas más mujeres percusionistas en Cuba. En 2017 se grabó en el estudio de grabación mas prestigioso de la isla, el estudio EGREM, donde grabaron todas las leyendas internacionales en los últimos 70 años (Buena Vista, Orquesta Aragón…) un álbum llamado “Hoy ha crecido el mar” que está teniendo mucho éxito, representando a la vez la tradición afrocubana intacta “desde tiempo España” como se dice en Cuba, pero también fusionando con el Jazz de raíces Yoruba.: 1981 days ago
