About Akamai Technologies, Inc.

Akamai Technologies, Inc. (AS32787) is the network of Prolexic, Akamai's DDoS protection service. Prolexic was a Florida based DDoS mitigation company that Akamai acquired in 2014.

How the network is used

• DDoS scrubbing: traffic of protected customers is routed through Akamai's scrubbing centers, where attacks are filtered out.
• Network protection: whole IP ranges of banks, governments and enterprises can be announced through this network during an attack.

Websites resolving to this network are protected by Akamai Prolexic; their real servers are located in the customers' own data centers. Akamai's content delivery edge uses separate networks such as AS20940.
