Aussi loin que je me rappelle, les formes et les couleurs m’ont toujours attirée. Après mes études en théorie du design, j’étais impatiente de retrousser mes manches pour sortir mes premières créations. Et puis, à l’occasion d’une journée portes ouvertes à l’école Olivier de Serres (ENSAAMA, École Nationale des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d’Art), j’ai découvert la technique ancestrale de la laque. Ce fut un véritable coup de cœur ! L’intensité et les innombrables possibilités créatives qu’offre ce matériau m’ont immédiatement fascinée.
À la fin de mes études, je suis donc partie en Asie, principal berceau de la laque, pour approfondir mes connaissances dans cette technique traditionnelle. Je suis allée au Japon et j’ai passé plusieurs mois au Vietnam, à Hanoï, aux côtés d’un maître laqueur. Voyager ainsi ouvre des horizons infinis en matière de création et nourrit intensément l’inspiration. De retour en France la tête remplie d’images, je n’ai plus qu’à me lancer, je crée alors ma première collection de bijoux inspirée par l’Asie. C’est ainsi que ma boutique LAKLAK est née, en juin 2012.
J’utilise une technique connue sous le nom de vernis gras, ou laque européenne. Le vernis est mélangé aux pigments et appliqué au pinceau en couches successives puis poncé. Je travaille selon les méthodes utilisées en France depuis le 18ème siècle, tout en adaptant de nouvelles techniques issues des diverses cultures que j’ai rencontrées. Je revisite ainsi un art millénaire dans des bijoux à l’esthétique très actuelle.
Les gestes et le temps nécessaires pour créer un objet en laque sont précieux en soi. Ils m’ont appris les bienfaits de la lenteur et de la patience. Lorsque vous appliquez la feuille d’or, que vous la gravez ou que vous faites une infime retouche, vous n’avez pas le droit à l’erreur. J’aime travailler ainsi, à pas mesurés, passer une nouvelle couche de laque chaque jour, aller d’une étape à l’autre et voir le bracelet se transformer peu à peu dans mes mains. Il y a une sorte de relation particulière qui se noue au fil du temps, une forme de complicité avec ma création.
