Dabei hat sie selbst genug Probleme, vor allem mit ihrem On-off-Freund, der auch für ein paar Tage zu Besuch kommt. Aber die Freundschaft zwischen den beiden Frauen ist eine Einbahnstraße, Henriette ist umgekehrt nicht für Paula da. Sie ist ein unglaublich unentschlossener Mensch, hängt nach Jahren der Tatenlosigkeit an der Uni fest, obwohl sie ihre Promotion über Werwölfe gar nicht mehr schreiben will, hat keinen Plan und keine Perspektiven. "Meine eigene Unentschiedenheit war mir unangenehm, mir fiel einfach keine Geschichte ein, mit der sich meine Existenz erklären ließ." Das Baby, das Henriette abgetrieben hat, war von einem verheirateten Mann, und was zwischen den beiden geschehen ist, bleibt im Dunkeln. Henriette ist also jemand, der keine oder falsche Entscheidungen trifft, nur reagiert und nie agiert, bis sie am Ende etwas unerwartet Krasses tut, das sie völlig aus ihrer Rolle fallen lässt. "Das ist schon immer meine Schwäche gewesen, Dinge zu tun, nur weil sie möglich sind." Hannah Lühmanns Roman über eine ungleiche Freundschaft zwischen zwei jungen Frauen hat mich in einen argen Zwiespalt gestürzt: Ich finde es gut und wichtig, dass sie eine Abtreibung thematisiert und eine Protagonistin geschaffen hat, die nach einem Weg sucht, mit dem selbstgewählten Verlust ihres ungeborenen Kindes umzugehen. Gleichzeitig aber ist Henriette in ihrer Passivität unerträglich, man möchte sie schütteln, sie anschreien. Sie nutzt Paula aus, jammert auf höchstem Niveau, lamentiert so vor sich hin, dass man nur noch augenrollend denkt: Check your privilege! Zudem hatte ich am Ende des Romans mehr Fragen als zu Beginn, vieles blieb schwammig und unklar, der plötzliche Abfall im Verhalten der Figuren und der abrupte Schluss haben mich ratlos zurückgelassen. Geht es darum, zu zeigen, dass auch Frauen Arschlöcher sind? Ist die Biologie letztlich stärker als der menschliche Wille? So oder so hat das Buch mich beschäftigt, wenn auch nicht unbedingt auf positive Weise. Auszeit von Hannah Lühmann ist erschienen bei Hanserblau.
