Amongst the ually transmitted diseases worldwide, the most acknowledged and widespread is HIV AIDS. Human immunodeficiency syndrome or HIV, as it is abbreviated, is a kind of retrovirus; which affects the immune system by infecting the white blood cells and decreasing their count. The victim of HIV then proceeds to the stage of AIDS as the CD4 count of white blood cells drops below the level of 200 cells. ‘Where did AIDS come from’; this question led scientists to research for the history of AIDS. Initially it all started in the year 1980, when people started to get contaminated and symptoms of HIV and HIV rash began to appear in some of the cases. A large number of people observed HIV symptoms in the primates of sub-Saharan Africa during its origination. Since then, the statistics of AIDS in Africa have been sloping upwards. Some facts about AIDS from the UN report of 2008 distinctly indicate that AIDS statistics have been inclining with a much higher pace not only in Africa, but all around the world. Unsafe , drug abuse and mother to child transmission are some of the causes of HIV. Once infected, the vector experiences HIV AIDS symptoms that gradually leads to further complications and . Anti retroviral treatment was thus developed to fight off the HIV virus in order to prolong life by 5-6 years, but at a cost of greater side effects, some of which replicated the early symptoms of HIV.
