Mount Teide Challenge, Tenerife, Spain, A trek / hike from sea to summit of Mount Teide at 3718 meters over 6 days. We hike part of of the GR131, but this is a unique walk. Mount Teide is on the Canary Island of Tenerife in Spain. The challenge is for good walkers, but does not require camping or the use of a vehicle either and relies on public transport only. The hike is based in Vilaflor one of SpainÂ’s highest villages, but requires a one night stay in the Altavista Refuge which allows access to the top of Teide without any special p***. The stay at the refuge allows hikers see the sunset from the summit. This view is amazing and was made all the sweeter by knowing you were only ones whom had completed the trek from sea level.
