Landscape paintings of Scotland by Scottish landscape artist Ardell Morton. Born in the U.S. of Scottish heritage, Ardell Morton is a traditional oil painter who specializes in Scottish landscapes, wildlife of the Highlands and the Hebrides Islands, and strongholds and medieval castle sites of Scottish clans. Ardell Morton is based at her home in Balquhidder, on Loch Voil in Perthshire, Scotland, but travels Scotland to paint and sketch puffins nesting on the cliffs of Mingulay and Staffa, pictish stones in the Uists and to Kisimul Castle, Castle Bay on the Isle of Barra, the high promontory of Dunnottar Castle, as well as Duart Castle on the Isle of Mull and the seals near Dunvegan Castle, on the Isle of Skye with distant views of the Outer Hebrides.The subjects of recent Scottish paintings by Ardell Morton have included Duart Castle on Isle of Mull, Kilchurn Castle on Loch Awe,Urquhart Castle overlooking Loch Ness, Eilean Donan Castle overlooking Loch Duich in Wester Ross, Dunvegan Castle on the Isle of Skye, Balmoral Castle, the Deeside Victorian country residence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Morton Castle in Galloway and Dun Sgathiach. Other landscape subjects have included scenes from the holy Isle of Iona, with its associations with St Columba, early Christianity, its abbey and Celtic crosses, and of Balquhidder, home of seventeenth century Scottish folk hero Rob Roy Macgregor, as well as Scottish Landscape Artist Ardell Morton.Martha A. Hall, of Molena, Georgia, manages Celtic Highland Art, is a small family business from which Limited Edition prints by Ardell Morton are stored and issued.
