Dear MyMaryland.net Community,First of all, thank you for being part of this extraordinary experiment in democracy. Together, we were able to push the envelope of what is possible in online civic engagement. MyMaryland.net was the first website to connect elected officials with their verified voters in a 24/7 online town hall. But unfortunately, we’re announcing today that we’re winding down the site. While we were able to prove that this type of real-time, verified, district-by-district engagement is possible, there is limited funding for pilots in this space and we weren’t able to raises the funds necessary to continue development of it. We feel immensely proud to have been able to pioneer this platform with all of you in the great state of Maryland, and are grateful to all those who participated in MyMaryland.net. In particular, we would like to thank the 16 state and federal elected officials who used our site to talk with constituents, especially Senator Ben Cardin. Thanks also to Sunlight Foundation, Points of Light, friends, family, our Board of Directors, advisors, volunteers, and supporters for their seed funding, time and energy. Your work made MyMaryland.net possible. Finally, thank you -- the 1,400 registered voters and students who signed up and wrote heartfelt letters in order to be heard on the issues you care about. Ben is now working full-time on Food Recovery Network, the campus movement he started to feed hungry Americans with food that would otherwise be thrown away. Lucas is now leading design at Wellbe.me, a startup that is revolutionizing healthcare. Keep in touch with us! Thank you again for everything.
