Dosage is a technique for cl ifying Thoroughbred pedigrees according to the aptitudinal type based on prepotent qualities of speed and stamina inherited from selected sires, called chefs-de-race, in a four-generation pedigree. The aptitudinal type of a pedigree correlates with performance on the track in terms of preference for distance, surface and other individual traits.
