DJ Wicked: Portland, Oregon's favorite hip-hop turntablist
DJ Wicked loves butter beats. The ones that melt in your ears, not in your mouth. Since his early days at Benson Polytech High School, DJ Wicked (a.k.a. 27-year-old Kirk Kirkpatrick) has been on the down low searching for butter. Thousands of records later, Wicked now spreads his beats across the Portland hip-hop scene almost nightly at Tonic Lounge, Ohm, Cobalt Lounge and Pine Street Theatre. As an independent turntablist, Wicked has opened shows for national acts such as Wu-Tang Clan and Eminem, and collaborates with local artists Sound Secretion, Hungry Mob, Emerge MCs, Cool Nutz and members of Jus Family Records. His recent contribution to the dub compilation CD docking sequence: bsi campaign vol. 1 won raves in the february issue of spin magazine, further building dj wicked's reputation as hardest working scratch musician northwest.
