The Kagyu meditation centres of South Africa and Zimbabwe are in the lineage of His Holiness Ogyen Trinle Dorje, 17th Karmapa. They are under the spiritual guidance of Akong Rinpoche and have been active since the early 1970’s. We have four arms of activity: traditional Buddhist teachings, charity, Tara Rokpa Therapy, and the environment. We have meditation centres in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Harare, and retreat centres in the Western Cape and North West province.
