Muscovy Ducks
Muscovy Ducks: Basic Information Muscovy Ducks are originally from South America and are the only duck not derived from mallard stock. They are bred for meat and eggs and also make excellent pets. They like to forage and even eat small bugs and slugs. They are quiet and are known as quackless ducks. The males hiss if they are alarmed and the females make cooing sounds. They can fly, but we've found if their flight feathers are clipped, they're very happy to free range in our yard by their pool. Be sure to keep ducklings away from crows.
