The devastating floods of 2010 affected over seventeen million people in the country where the flood waters covered nearly one fifth of the country. The scale of disaster and destruction created the need for emergency response and recovery programs of an equal magnitude. It was this need that led to the formation of the Pakistan Emergency Food Security Alliance (PEFSA). Six INGOs, namely ACF, ACTED, CARE, IRC, Oxfam GB and Save the Children, came together to work collaboratively to address these needs. Working in an alliance helped reach more flood victims and avoid duplication of efforts.
